“you can’t escape fashion, and neither can you escape architecture. we use both to dress ourselves. everyone wears fashion and everyone uses architecture, whether for living, housing or working. fashion, architecture and design accompany us throughout our lives. they are the expression of an attitude to life, part of our culture and an economic factor at the same time.  … this network of relationships between people, space, time and fashion, subtly worked out by regina relang, also characterises the series of fashion photographs by the cologne-based architect and photographer anja schlamann. in doing so, she treads a path of her own, far removed from the slick and hyper-aestheticised advertising and fashion photography. in her series “SIE”, which has been running for over three years, anja schlamann stages fashion in not everyday visible, spectacular spaces as a border crossing between art, fashion and architectural photography. “YOU”, that is anja schlamann in places she has sought out herself. …designed form, be it architecture, fashion or photography, is given equal rights in the pictorial space constructions of anja schlamann. functionally emptied spaces, become the stage for a fashion that wants to be freed from the waistline, natural, suitable for everyday use, in a language of quiet tones. a tendency, by the way, that is also reasserting itself in contemporary architectural language and design.”
