The most important thing to be able to work well in a foreign country is information that I can use to prepare myself. Where can I find what I’m looking for? What are the local conditions like? Can I go on expeditions alone or do I need to be accompanied? As it turned out, I need to find people who can accompany me and preferably also know the local area so that they can give me recommendations for markets.

When asked about travel and photography conditions in South America, the first person I thought of was FRANK GAUDLITZ, whose work from South America I have known and appreciated for years. The same goes for La Paz: I told my rowing colleagues about my plans, Sebastian told me straight away that he had an exchange student from near La Paz through his son, contacted him, he contacted a friend who had just moved to La Paz, she in turn contacted a friend and the ! is a photographer and is really keen to accompany me – what a great way to pass the word! I’m really looking forward to meeting all the people who have been living in the cities I want to get to know for a long time!
