Châu Đốc, Day 18

The hotel where I was able to relax is located on a mountain, overlooking rice fields and far away from real life in Châu Đốc. But that’s where we were taken after breakfast on motorcycles.
.

… to first walk through the market hall and continue to be amazed; even manicures were performed on site.
.

Châu Đốc is known for its fishermen’s houses, floating houses where the fishermen live. Under each house is a pool, about 8 (!!) meters deep, in which (in the case we visited 🙂 pighead fish swim, whose heads look like pigs. We couldn’t verify the accuracy of this….
Then we continued on one of the canals, past the houses on stilts, which are sometimes flooded during the rainy season.
.

The fishermen feed their fish daily, of course, which costs them $200 each time. Once they reach the appropriate size, the fish are sold. Once a year, each house sends a shipment of about 1 ton of live fish to Cambodia. In both photos below, a shipment is being prepared.
.

In the late afternoon, I returned to the scene of the (unwelcome) incident, met Ly, who had taken such wonderful care of me at the hospital, and we went to a restaurant together.
